ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
This website came about after a conversation with Edmund's daughter Brigitte who is a second cousin to me. Aware that I have spent much of my working life in the bus
industry Brigitte shared with me a photograph of Edmund's buses. This stirred a memory from years back. Edmund wrote regularly to my father and on one occasion my
father mentioned that Edmund had a bus. I thought nothing much about it at the time. However, with Brigitte's agreement I decided to investigate further.
A search on the internet revealed nothing of any help. I contacted US enthusiast William Shapotkin through Facebook. Bill gave me a couple of leads, but I still drew a blank. I looked
again at the photograph Brigitte had sent me. I was able to deduce that the buses were all ex-London Transport DMS class vehicles which LT sold off many years
previously.
That led to a major break through. I recalled that a dealer in the south, Ensign of Purfleet had sold many of the displaced buses
so I emailed them to see what they could tell me. Unfortunately, their sales records didn't go back that far. However both the owner, Peter Newman and his son
Ross emailed me a personal response with two 'leads' that might be of help.
The first was Ian's Bus Stop which is nothing short of an encyclopaedia of London buses. There's a lot
of information there which I found useful later on.
The other suggestion was to contact Nigel Eadon-Clarke, the author of several very interesting books on the DMS class. In fact Ross had helpfully copied Nigel in on
his reply to me and almost by return Nigel offered his help. This was the major breakthrough I needed. Nigel not only kept comprehensive notes of his travels,
but had actually visited Denver to see Edmund, staying with the family whilst he was there! That this website exists is very much down to the kindness and help provided
by Peter and Ross Newman and their suggestions and the enormous help given freely by Nigel.
THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH
